A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

I hope this is just a optical-dilusion. The arena looks about 7 feet high. Dennis
Dennis,
There were a number of arena's "back in the day" that were only 8 feet tall, or so. Although they usually had a net. The "Proske" cage that Hawthorn has set up in Training Barn Two is only 8 foot tall. Roman Proske used it when he played theaters and stages as the roof wasn't much taller then that.
I think the thought that an animal will go out over the top is extremely overrated. A relaxed, properly acclimated animal is not looking for an escape. It has to be a very, very terrified animal to look for any out possible and go over the top.
