Marco, what is a "Dorf?"
From CARL HAGENBECK, BEASTS AND MEN London & New York: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1912:
I was born on the 10th of June, 1844, and had two brothers and three sisters. My mother died in 1865, and, my father marrying a second time, I subsequently had two half-brothers, John Hagenbeck of Colombo, Ceylon, and Gustav Hagenbeck, who still resides in Hamburg.

This site has some wonderful Hagenbeck, including Gustav postcards.
Marco, anything about the "other" Hagenbeck children has been hard to find. I have often wondered if there was a "show business rivalry," or something of that nature as they always seemed to be just on the fringes of what ever it was Carl had his hands in at the moment. Maybe when Carl got done having the exclusive on a particular tribe or people's from another country he gave them to the brothers to scrounge a few more dollar's in the smaller cities and town. That whole era/time of not only captive animals but just living in the world had to have been so, so very exciting and mysterious. I would have loved to have been around at that time and gone on a few Hagenbeck animal collecting trips.
