Hagenbeck Entrance Gate Detail

Encyclopedia of the world's zoos - Google Books Result

This beautiful structure is often referenced as an example of Carl Hagenbeck's "racism" and disrespect of people's from other countries. That's such a long grasp at any straw as a point, that it is almost incomprehensible. Just ridiculous and insane as suggesting that he didn't respect the elephants, lions, and polar bears depicted. Yes he made money off of them, but so what? I am not convinced that his intentions were bad or wrong, and I think "intent" is the most important factor in suggesting whether some was good, bad or evil yesterday and today.
