For Steve and Radar--Sunken temples

53 year old elephant sunken temples diagnosed with TB died.

On another blog I have been told that sunken temples are not necessarily an indication of age.

Have you ever seen a young [or youngish] elephant with sunken temples?

The only time I have seen younger elephants with sunken temples were sick and emaciated

Define "youngish" and "younger. While you are at it Radar, define "sick and emaciated."

Younger - under middle aged.
Sick and emaciated - ie, underweight or diseased

Radar,
How old is the elephant at the top? How old is the elephant at the bottom? Are/were either of them sick?

According to your information, the top is 53, the younger is 28. The top is sick, the bottom is not.

Yet they both have sunken temples. So it sunken temples an accurate indicator of sickness or age?

No it is not. I did not say it was. I said the ones I have seen were sick or older animals.
