For Steve and Radar--Sunken temples

The photo above is of two elephants taken in 1980 aged 23. The photo below is of two elephants taken in 2010 aged 7. Look at the ear and head of both animals on the left. Could it not be the same animal?

On another blog I have been told that sunken temples are not necessarily an indication of age.

Have you ever seen a young [or youngish] elephant with sunken temples?

The only time I have seen younger elephants with sunken temples were sick and emaciated

Define "youngish" and "younger.
