There are also ghost zoos in Miami's Crandon Park and Vancouver's Stanley Park. Sincerely Paul

Paul,
I have been getting all my Vancouver "junk"(as my son's would call priceless photographic documentation) together, and hope to be able to do something in a week or so. As beautiful as Art Deco is is, the animal kingdom is glad to be rid of it. Makes for a nice entrance gate, but that is about it. LOL

This photograph shows the derelict Belle Vue Zoo in Belfast and NOT that of Manchester.

Sam,
Thank you for the correction. I didn't realize there was a Belle Vue Zoo in Belfast.

No problem. The extensive Belle Vue Zoo, Belfast, was opened in 1934. It was replaced by the current zoo which was constructed from 1974. The old zoo still remains, adjacent to the new. I have many photographs of the derelict site that may be of interest to followers of this blog.

Sam,
I normally welcome new folks to the blog, and am sorry I missed it the first time. Welcome.
The photos would be of tremendous interest. Could you send them, or do you have a site where they could be viewed? My email is wburck3@aol.com if you want to send them. We have discussed Belfast zoo briefly in the past, type Belfast zoo in the search bar at the top left of the blog.
There used to be a beautiful Art Deco building which I believe was a dance hall "back in the day." It it still there, or has it been torn down?

Gerald Durrell used to be in charge of the aquarium in Manchester Zoo, and he lived in the direcor's house at that time. Sincerely Paul
