Knowing of my interest and admiration of Falconry, Bjorn Krebbers was kind enough to send this amazing video of an actual Cheetah hunt. I had only seen a few pictures and/or lithographs of the actual practice and they didn't show much. Of interest is the harness around the cheetahs waist which I am assuming was a way to lift it or pull it away from the prey if necessary. I was also intrigued to see a "hood" very similar to a Falcon's hood used to keep the animal quite until prey was located. Incredible, but because there is so little about hunting with Cheetah's available, you have to assume it was not that practical, and bird's of prey were a much better option. Does anyone know anymore about the practice of using Cheetahs for this purpose?

Amazing footage. A couple of interesting things were that the cheetahs were captured and trained as adults. Also, it was amazing to see how easily they were separated from their captures. They must surely have been some of the most domesticated big cats anywhere. good stuff.
the waist belts are quite effective in handling the cheetahs use this on the cheetahs here
