A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade, they are absolutely adorable. I am so jealous of the woman holding them. Do you know anything about their lineage or where they came from?
Mary Ann
Mary Ann,
I don't know anything about them. But I will try to find out.
Wade
They are adorable. However I am of the opinion that the one I played with all day, (and the one you would trade so easily for Fire Magic) was very much cuter and fluffier. This is very important when you are talking holding and smothering wiith kisses.
Dianne,
That's because it was "white", and you could see that it was white. LOL To realize the importance of that human emotion/connection to "cuter and fluffier" in the world of animal activism and donations to causes, how many Save the Snakes and Lizards foundations are there? When was the last time WWF used a Vulture or Earthworm as their poster child to solicit funds?
Wade
I believe ,they were born in July
and the father Kalif is carrier of the "white"gene.
Rob, since the "white" gene is recessive, both parents would have to carry it. Do you know where the parents came from?
Mary Ann
Quite cute! How lucky you all are to be around such amazing creatures , I will have to settle on two wild housecats. LOL
Amy
Amy,
That is not "settling on." Just ask Mary Ann.
Wade
Amy, Wade is right. We have three feral cats that we pulled from the woods when they were only four weeks old, and hand-raised them, even teaching them to eat. They are now 3 1/2 years old, and I love them dearly. But to be in the presence of a magnificent big cat is awesome, to connect with one is ecstasy, and to touch one is almost divine.
Mary Ann
Amy,
I think Mary Ann inadvertently left out a word in this comment. I think she intended to write magnificent Big Cat "TRAINER" and was attempting to portray to you her feelings the first time she met me. LOL
Wade
Sorry Mary Ann,can't tell you anything further. There were some articles in Spanish about them.
Wow Wade. Really? lol
Wade,
If she was referring to "trainer" what exactly did she touch that sent her to ecstacy? LOL
Amy
Mary Ann,
Both my housecats were feral born as well. Chewie was picked up when she was quite young. Gizmo on the other hand was at least 7 weeks old. She is quite lovey dovey, but the biggest fraidy cat I have ever seen.
Amy
Amy, ours were destructive when young, but have settled into very affectionate cats, including my favorite the wild woman Grace. I had the advantage of knowing when they were born, and that the best time to pull them is between four and five weeks. Your Gizmo may always be a bit afraid because she was not socialized at a very early age. Wade would be the first to tell you that early environment is important.
Mary Ann
Amy, I will tell you this much. If it were the legendary snake I touched, I wouldn't blab about it here.
Mary Ann
Mary Ann,
she is not just afraid of people. Any sudden movements or noises send her under the bed. She is quite Co-dependant, whether it be me or Andrew or the other cat. Chewie on the other hand is content on being by herself.
As for the snake, I would think you would have some "splanin" to yor husband if you did. LOL
Amy
Wade, the animal trainer I am so jealous of is Katerina Guelderone. One of the cubs will be named "Lanza" after the Spanish island "Lanzarote", where the cubs were born. The other 2 cubs will named in a contest open to the public.
Mary Ann
Mary Ann,
Did you learn of the lineage of the parents? I emailed Katerina to ask, but haven't gotten a response back.
Wade
Wade, no I didn't learn anything about their lineage, so I hope that Katerina responds to your e-mail. Thank you for doing that.
Mary Ann
