A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.
Is this Merry Lu Cassertelly of the "we got robbed at Monte Carlo" Cassertelly family?

Yes this is 16-year-old Merrylu Caselly on the Danish version of America's Got Talent "Talent 2008". She made it all the way to the last round but lost in the finals.
Some more videos and infromation (in Danish) http://www.dr.dk/DR1/Talent/Talenterne/2008/semi3/merrylu.htm Her family is originally from Germany but has been working for Cirkus Arena in Denmark for quite a while.
Marco,
Thank you. I thought it was, but I wasn't sure. What a talented girl. Contortion, her parents elephant/horse act, and a six horse liberty act. I'm impressed. That is a next generation that is kicking a** and should carry the circus into the future in grand style.

Please, again: Casselly German family has nothing to do with Casartelli Italian family.
Cassertelly family doesn't exist anywhere...

Raffaele,
Geez, relax. I'm sorry. I ask a simple question and you start ranging up. Did some body pi** in your wine today? LOL Give me a break. At least I am not confusing them with Casartelli anymore. Just mucking up the spelling(I remembered it had a Y someplace). People still refer to my son Adam and I as Burke, so they will just have to get used to it. I won't ask for any British help anymore, I'll just ask for European, if you are going to be that sensitive and unreasonable. Now if you are calmed down, what's the deal with the ring curb on Circo Americano(hows that). Is it no ring curb, an oval ring curb, or a ring curb set up and then dismantled.
Regards friend,
Wade
For the record, whilst Merrylu's father, Rene, is certainly German, her mother, Alexia, is Belgian.
With love from Britain.
When the Togni family traveled through Germany with their American Circus I remember a big oval ring curb that was transformed into three rings for several acts (e.g. horses). Good show and American as it gets (for Europeans ;-) ).
John mate,
Give young Dieck my best. I am impressed with what he does, and the shape of his animals. Ask him to sent me some photos of his act. It deserves recognition.
Regards,
Wade
Marco,
Thank you. That's what it looked like from the video, but I couldn't tell for sure. Cavalia, did a similar thing for there show which was incredible and opened up the presentation for a multitude of equine productions, not being confined and limited by a 42 ft. ring.
You are right about the Tognis. About the only thing they have done that was wrong, was to take that beautiful bloodstock out of the American Circus, and back to Europe.
Wade
Wade, Merry Lu's strength, balance, grace, flexibility, and stamina are incredible. Those are the same qualities that I greatly admire in a prima ballerina.
Mary Ann
Mary Ann,
I thought the "mermaid" look was great. A very different twist on a traditional circus contortion act.
