Vinicio Togni

My way of thinking this is about the prettiest thing in the world, and is so what the Circus was, and should still be. I love elephants, and God knows I love cage acts but the Circus and it's history will always be linked with beautful well turned out equine. A grand tradition sorely missed today.

Wade, direct from the State Fair where Etan Beth Halachmy (Cowboy dressage fame) visited. Our discussion turned to where did all the greats go (circus and horse world wide) and where do we go to get the old footage? Maybe you can address that.

An example of the younger generation up and coming greats was very evident here last night during the midnight hours. A group presenting themselves as "super stars" with the stand-in (not the main star) horse for the movie "Lord of the Rings" (that would be the horse the wizard Gandolf rode named Shadowfax) exited by the dawns early light. Not given the courtesy of bright lights and stardom, they were insulted that they were to be intermingled within the existing show (they were booked for only the last 4 days of the fair, they came at no cost I might ad). So their visions smashed that they couldn't present their very amateur and poor presentation and were gone come daylight. This is the new and upcoming people of stardom, our superstars. I might add also that they were completely dressed out in photo laden horse trailers I am sure hocked to the hilt for the big impression, even to the point that they were hawking a Horse Talk Radio Show and a big Las Vegas Show all upon investigation were under DEVELOPMENT. Give me a break.

Dianne,
Old footage of any of the greats is going to be tough. There wasn't much recording media back then, and I just don't think anybody ever thought there would not be new masters to replace the old. Not in all cases of course, but the example you have given is what is becoming popular. As people know less and less, charlatans are able to get away with more and more, this profession is rampant with that type of thing. The masters left because they could not compete financially or professionally with childish productions. I am hoping and trying to address what is good training and what is nonsense.

A good thing then that the "childish" "charlatans" left to avoid confronting the masters - thus being exposed for what they really are. Maybe the wheel is starting to turn in the right direction?
