I send you a half dozen pictures of me in a cowboy hat in hopes of being included in the esteemed "Hat Hall of Fame" and none of them were acceptable. Hub can wear a cowboy hat, Dicky can wear a cowboy hat, Frank can wear a cowboy hat and you accept that. Yet a real, true, authentic cowboy like me can't. That's not right David and I know for a fact that if Chris Ledoix were alive today he would also object and find it unacceptable. If the Ring of Fame was as strict with their requirements as you are, do you realize we would be looking at only Gunther Gebel Williams and Charly Baumann's wheel at St. Armand's??????
That said, in an effort to stop your whining, crying and constant badgering, I broke down yesterday and purchased one of those candy ass Panama hat's that you find so dear. It wasn't a cheap one either. I sprung for a 200 peso(close to $17.00 pal!!!!) high end lid, in an effort to get you off my back. I went all "Hemingway" and even purchased a big fat cigar to hold in my fingers!!!!! If that doesn't get me into your damn Hall, you can cram it and the Panama hat!!!!!
Speaking of Ring of Fame's, why isn't Axel Gautier enshrined in that deal? If that hambone Ben Davenport can be included, surely there is a small bit of real estate for Axel? If you get a chance, in between breakfast get together's, and bothering the fine folk's at Circus Sarasota, could you look into that?
Stay well friend,
Wade

Yesw Wade there are numerous people that should be in the Ring Of Fame and a number that are "IN" that probably should not be including yours truly according to a recent comment on another blog that suggests I have alot of Critiques that would outnumber my departed members of my generation animal training fraternity that I recently suggested that sadly I am outliving them. Be that as it may I am surprised to find, according to this juggler bturned animal trainer-expert in the field that I am not as highly bregarded as it may seem. Nevertheless I am there right across the street from the popular "Cha Cha Coconuts" dining and drinking establishment on the beautiful world renowned "St Armonds Circle" right next to Charles Moroski, who at the request of his beautiful wife Gina did the eulogy at his funeral, also I did the eulogy of my dear friend over the years, Adolf Delbosq. By ponting out "Cha Cha Coconuts" makes it easy for those few who may be inclined to see me cast in brass and concrete. Yes Axel is deserving of recognition, but I feel an equal injustice that Herr Hugo Schmidt has not been enshrined when so many others of our elephant training fraternity have. Certainly your credentials would put you high on the list, but obviously you are not retired so assuming a few pages have not yet been written. So my esteemed colleauge [how about that wording for class] in regard to a couple of the cold upper midwest citizens who have ventured out in this world of make believe and triumphs and tradgedies. Sincerely. How about them Bucs and Rays. Tanglefoot
John Milton,
You are killing me!!! This is classic "Herriott" LOL I did not see the comment you mention, but "juggle boy" sure is misguided, or misinformed about your rightful place in Animal Training History over the last 75 years. Unless he is Francis Brunn, or his nephew Michael Cherrick "juggle boy" can just take a seat, sit down, and shut the F up.
Thank you for the tip that Cha Cha Coconuts is a good "landmark" for locating your wheel. The only time I can find it is on induction day because they set the Porta Potty in front of it. Now I can find you on any day by locating Cha Cha Coconut's, and not have to depend on the crapper which is gone the day after induction's.
I'm impressed. "So my esteemed colleauge" is indeed classy John, except "colleauge" is spelled colleague. :)
Do an informal survey John Milton, and as we have discussed in the past, you will discover a whole boat load of cold upper Midwest citizen's who have not only succeeded in this world of make believe, triumphs and tragedies, but rose to the top of their profession. You know one that I am talking about, Mr. Land of Ten Thousand Lakes.
"How about them Bucs and Rays?" How about Mexico in the Gold Cup, is more like it. Folk's down here are queer for soccer, John. I haven't seen a football or baseball game for month's. Try to flip the channel in a sport's bar and you have one of those Alamo deal's all over again on your hands.
Be safe and well ole hoss, my best to Mary Ruth.

Addendum to John Milton Herriott,
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Bello Nock and Sylvia Zerbini are retired. Are you sure that is a requirement?

I e-mailed the complete listing of 25 years of Ring of Fame Inductees...Some of your questions can be answered by reviewing the list......By the way nice hat....Next time don't spend so much money....The Hat Hall of Fame Committee will be reviewing your entry this winter in Sarasota...Would like to have your permission to use this picture if in event you make it this time...All the best....
This is just incredible!!!! Even with all the effort, forget the large sum of money spent for a damn hat, this is the response from the King of the "Hat Hall of Fame:"
This will probably put you into the running for the Hat Hall of Fame..... The Blue Ribbon Hat Committee will take your extra effort into favorable consideration.
Circusly,
David
Well, nut's to them!!!! I have your "Circusly" right here. "Circusly" this!!! If any body is interested in a Panama hat, let me know. I will let it go cheap to get it off my hands.
Wade
David,
You have shit from me to use that picture. Grease the skids into the "Hall" then we'll talk. I've come a long way in my "public relations" skill's, haven't I?
This is for anybody that has the stone's to address it:
Here's something I have always wondered about that St. Armands deal. What in God's name do the Atayde Bros. have to do with American Circus. If it is not about American Circus, then why aren't the Knie's, the Togni's, the Casartelli's, Cristal Sembach-Krone, Gert Siemoneit-Barum etc. etc. inducted also? If it is about American Circus, give me a run down please of the contributions/accomplishments of the Atayde Bros. to the American Circus?
There was a lot of beefing when Jr. was inducted which I couldn't understand. The Negro League players are in the Baseball Hall of Fame, not for any World Series ring's won or record's broken. They are in because of what they were, and deserving so, not just because they showed up and played 9 innings.
Pete Rose, one of the greats at his position can forget it. He broke the law. Ben Davenport had a rap sheet a mile long and the circus honor's him. Explain that to me? If nothing else it might make folks understand the "public image" issues the circus deal's with today.

keep those bull fihyhing pics coming .by the way my doc alloweing me to go to vallarta your welcome Clean Raul ps. if i am not mistaken there is a bull fight in Nuevo Vallarta
Clean Raul,
Good for you, glad to hear it. Yes, there is a bull ring in Nuevo Vallarta. I caught a corrida there 3 years ago. It isn't the Monumental Plaza of course, but it will do in a pinch. I will post the pictures I took at the Monumental Plaza this past Sunday. Two of the young chaps were not quit ready for the big time, but one of them, Alberto Valente was real sharp and is a name to watch for in the future. He is going to be something special one day. Before the novilla he and I were talking and he asked who I thought were the best. I told him on horseback Carlos Arruza and Pablo Hermoso and on foot Juan Belmonte and El Cordobes. His first fight was very good with a reasonably clean kill taking 15 sec. His second fight was brilliant. Everybody ran the bull in and tired it out running it at the barriers. For his last fight of the day young Valente signaled them not to open the gate and walked out into the middle of the ring, waved at me then dropped down on his knee's(ala El Cordobes) and signaled to gate to be opened, then spectacularly threw the cape over his head and sent the blasting bull past. He pulled off some brilliant passes(ala Juan Belmonte) and a couple of Manolete's which had the crowd screaming ole as well as a couple of backside passes known as Joselto's. Unfortunately he mucked the kill badly. Real bad. He bounced out 4 times before the bull collapsed and one of the bandillreos dispatched it. Fortunately for him he was so magnificent, the crowd actually went awwww at the first botched attempt. The other two young chap's they booed for their muffed kills.
I had a bowl of goat soup called Birilla or something like that. First served at the Plaza on opening day over 60 years ago, and served today in the same stand by the son of the man who first served it. It was as good as anything I have ever tasted. Three bowl's good and two after the corrida. I told my mother if I had known goat tasted that good I would have eaten the nanny and her two kid's I had when I was young, and it would have saved her and Dad having to feed them. :)
