Memorabila Joint's at The Plaza

This enterprising young chap had a killed bull head set up at his joint that you could have your picture taken with for the low sum of 10 peso. As it was a bull of no importance, I declined.

I have close to 65 bullfighting history books in my personal library and was thrilled to find Pepe Rodriguez set up at the Plaza. I have purchased "stuff" from Pepe in the past but had never met him. He has some fabulous stuff, and I bought 4 books from him that I really needed and couldn't live without. He had a copy of one of fifty book's printed by the Mexican Government commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Plaza that I wanted real bad. He was asking 8000 pesos($619,31) for it. Unfortunately, I was 200 pesos short after springing for a stupid Panama hat, in an effort to suck up to Dave Orr and his "Hat Hall of Fame." Pepe even had 3 sword's that had been used to deliver the estoca(death thrust) for sale. The one in the middle, in the photo above had been used by El Juli. The only reason I didn't buy it was because I didn't think it would fit in my suitcase, and I wouldn't be comfortable walking around Mexico with it strapped on my back.

FOR THE RECORD: It has often been suggest that I am as rabid as a circus fan, when it comes to collecting anything pertaining to bull fighting. Nothing against wonderful circus fans, but I have always resented the suggestion that I am "rabid" in my pursuit of bullfighting history. I am mature enough to keep it all in perspective. That said, above is a picture of the urinals at the Plaza. Although I can't as yet confirm whether it is true or just speculation, there is a rumor that Ernest Hemingway and Juan Belmonte, while discussing the idea of a new book titled, "Death in the Afternoon", stood here together, side by side and pissed.
