The photo above was taken just before on of Hagenbecks incredible journeys back to the Tierpark in Germany. His books are some of the greatest reads in the world of animals. If you want to immerse yourself in probably the most exciting time in the history of captive animals, I recommend Hagenbecks writings. If you can't read German, get somebody to translate, because they are worth it.
