Is there a reason why the Prop. guys are standing on the stairways?

Bjorn,
They are not prop guy's, they are ushers. They stand at the bottom of the stairs, while animal acts are on, to prevent people from walking between the ring curb and seats.

By the way did you here the news that there was an accident at Circus Knie, last weekend elephant Ceylon appertly knokked over a pram by accident with her foot, injuring a 10 month old baby. The child sufferd only some bumps and bruises. I see if i can find a link to a news website, most likely the site will be in German, i hope that's not a problem for you?
