The Turkey Festival 2008--Putting America and Europe Circus in perspective

Courtesy of Rebecca

The photo above of the Aerial Ballet in Evansville is just "one" act. The photo below is an entire cast plus the orchestra(Evansville's orchestra numbers 19). All those ladies above in the air at the same time performing web, trapeze, rings, cradle, etc. In Europe a flying act is a rarity due to the size of the tent. In 34 years I spent 9 months in a tent. I don't think I missed much and I indeed, contrary to what "festival junkies" may suggest, know what the big time is.

Jeff,
Thank you very much friend. Since Clown College closed not much has seemed right in the world. Where are you working now?
I'm glad you are here, and will look forward to your thoughts. Unless you are interested in glossy fluff? This is more like after the show is over, press has left, autographs have been signed, lights are off, the coliseum is empty, and the first bar b que grill has just been fired up at the train yard.
Regards,
Wade

I was trying to comment on the "glossy fluff" or maybe it was the "lip gloss" on the first photo above....Made me feel young again! CC was so long ago.... 1978....I was on the Blue Show before your tenure.... probably a good thing our paths didn't cross back then.... we would've had a blast.... but may have gotten into a heap of trouble.
Not working in "show business" these days. My wife and I own a commercial printing company and try to keep the presses running during this interesting economy. We've done a few projects for F.I. over the years.
The emptying building after a long day's work was always one of my favorite experiences. It was peaceful... like a majestic golf course after sunset as it starts preparing to rest for the following day. O crap... there I go again....
Fire up the grill! I'll bring the beer......
Keep posting some of the "eye candy" for us old guys who remember when the circus had showgirls!:-^)
Blessings,
JD

That is the aerial ballet featuring "The Empress" Wendy Bell on the Roman rings, flanked in rings 1 and 3 by the "fabulous and/or sisters" also performing on the Roman rings myself and Christine B.!There are 16 women performing on spanish web, oh yes these webs are almost 40' long!! it is a 36' climb to the
hand loop!!good times!
