You will note that they have removed the "hook" from the end of Mr. Smith's elephant hook. I will again suggest that it was the profession that made the hook/Ankus a monster by trying to hide it or deny it. The whips he has are from the Westfield Whip Company, in Westfield, Mass. They are on longer available, and when they were they were the best buggy whip available in America. Not on a par to Europes product, but the best we had here. Very functional for cats as well as horses, and elephants.

Thank you very much Wade! I'm still looking for those pictures of the St Louis Elephant Show with Donn Gibson and my father. An interesting tale, the last year that the zoo did shows my Dad had Donna doing the entire performance on just hand signals.
I found this link a few weeks ago. Quite a few old Floyd Smith pictures are included, along with some other St. Louis Zoo ones.

Ryan,
I tried the link, but it wouldn't work.
Wade
Are you sure Wade? I copied it to my address bar and it pulled up with no problem.
Link works fine Ryan, this is a great site. Wade you can copy them also,I found the best way is to copy and paste them in an e-mail to yourself.Click on the one you want to make it bigger, otherwise it will copy them small.
P.S. I only know these things because I have an eleven year old standing behind me telling me how to do it....LOL....( And rolling his eyes at how computer stupid his mother really is.)
