This building behind the buffalo is very suspect. Also the palm trees look out of place. The "backdrop" may have been added to give the buffalo an exotic look.

Wade, is this the primate house that burned down on Christmas Eve, 1995? What a tragedy! Six gorillas, three orangutans, four gibbons, and ten lemurs perished. I have the commemorative postcard, with pictures of some of them. It is titled "All the World Will Miss Them."

Mary Ann,
I am not sure if this is the same one or not. I can't imagine standing by as gorillas and orangutans were being consumed.

Wade, I just found this account on the internet.

Wade, according to Wikipedia, the primate building that had the fire was built in 1985, and had no fire detection equipment. Only 20% of the buildings there at the time had such equipment.

Mary Ann,
Then it could not have been this building as it is much older. Although if I recall when I was at Philadelphia in 1984 they were in a very old facility, and there were notices that a new one was being built. They converted an old building into an education center. Which one was it do you know?
Wade
Mary Ann,
I just looked at the link you sent. Thank you. The Discovery house, may have been the education center I was thinking about in 1984.
