The first White Lions in the United States, Philadelphia Zoo. I will accept a Cremelo/seal point lion, but I am not buying white.

Wade, I'm glad that white lions and white tigers make her happy, because when she's happy, I'm happy.
Joe
Wade, the white female in the top picture is Jezebel, the great-grandmother of the three male white lions at the Toledo Zoo. We saw the Philadelphia pride in 1996, when each white female had her second litter of cubs. We were there on Vinkel's fifth birthday. We saw them again two years later, in 1998, and then not again until 2006, when big Cat Falls opened. Poor Vinkel, then fifteen years old and menopausal, was growing a small mane. I will e-mail you a picture of her.
Mary Ann
I think that Philadelphia Zoo's white lions were darker than most, and were described as butter milk colored when they arrived.
I think Vinkel is Swedish and means "angle." I realize that makes no sense.
Joe Howell should sell his photographs, and Wade Burck should write a book, at least one. Just don't title it Monkeys On The Interstate.
Paul,
That has always been my contention about the White Lions. Either an animal is white or it isn't. Cremelo comes in a multitude of shade's. From "white" to the naked eye, to one step short of palomino. Seal point also, as you know, comes in a vast variety of shades.
Wade
Paul,
Speaking of names making sense, add various "foreign" accents to the name for a grand mixup. Hawthorn had a tiger here in 2002 when I returned, that I was told was named Jiba by a Dutchman. A Mexican said no, the name was Sheva, yet the only thing resembling the name in the records was Sjiva. It was finally learned from an English women, who had removed the tiger from her act that the tigers name was Sheba. The name was entered in the Isis records as Sjiva(Sheba). LOL
Paul,
We are thinking of giving the book the title WGB on the QEW, Following life's Chevrons. What do you think?
Wade
That works for me. Monkeys On The Interstate was taken anyway.
