A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

All of these pics just reaffirm that I was born 100 years too late. Zoo's today are the casting ground for TV stars and no one even cares to learn the art of 'stockmanship', but I'm sure there were some 'ordinary' keepers in their day as well. I just get sad that the dilution of captive management occurs before my eyes, daily,as you blokes often comment on regarding circus. I am glad that I have experienced some great moments with some legends in this field. Hope that something is passed on as I fear for the future.
Cheers
Glenn
Glenn,
It was truly a different world, you are correct. I am still trying to come to grips with the fact that trainers can no longer ride Killer whales. Who knew, who expected that nonsense to happen.
