"This appears to be a well placed estoque but amazingly the animal did not go down immediately. The young man is lucky he only suffered a broken collar bone."
The most gruesome sight is when the sword opens a conduit between a
pressurised blood vessel and a lung, causing blood to spew out of the
mouth. Whether it is the most distressing reality for the animal, I
don’t know. It is the long deaths upset me personally the most: when the
bull walks back to the wooden barrier, clutching onto life. Sometimes,
though, even then he is not without fight.
