I sure enjoyed getting to know the Colonel at Circus World..he was a heck of a chess player...

I had the pleasure of getting to know the Col. quite well towards the end of his life. Quite a man, and full of stories of the "old days" on an English circus, peppered with quaint phrases, like "jolly jump off" to describe an amateur who wasn't very good at what they did and just played around at it. I played 4 games of chess with him, which he loved. Lost all 4. Whipped soundly, actually.
