Good evening,
I received a call from our good
friend and colleague, Richard Reynolds III, in Atlanta, GA. on Friday afternoon.
He has asked me to pass this on to you and to some others.
Richard suffered a heart attack
in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. He has had a stint put in and has been
placed on a medicine regime when he was released on Friday afternoon. He is
allowed to do absolutely nothing except sit still right now. He's very tired.
I'm sure he would be delighted to know that so many people care about this fine
gentleman.
If there any updates to pass
along, I'll do so as I hear about them or perhaps one of you may hear
first.
One behalf of
my wife and myself, our finest hopes and prayers go out to Richard, Delia and
their sons, Michael, Tim and Rich.

Richard is a True Southern Gentleman and a wealth of circus & animal knowledge. I`ve shared a few stories and some Mellow Mushroom Pizza with him a few times ! He`s one of those folks you could listen too all day and never get tired or bored. Here`s to a full recovery my friend !!!

Wade,
I'm sure he would be delighted to see an email. How often he looks at them right now, I don't know. He was very weak when we spoke on Saturday but I'm hoping and praying that every day is another ounce of strength back in his body, his mind, and his will once again.
I have a great deal of respect for Richard as he took a young and dumb circus historian and taught me some of the ropes that were so important that I was cutting corners with. Now I kick myself in the ass for not doing some of my research more thoroughly and with documentation 15 years ago when I started building an elephant archive. A HUGE set of Thanks goes out to Richard who taught this student quite well and graciously shared his wealth of knowledge with me before blogs came along, and still does.
Wade, you have done as much for the zoological blogging and sorting out as anyone in this country next to Richard. You have dug up the stories and exposed the facts be they good, bad or indifferent. I applaud you for all your efforts. I can't go to bed each night without checking your blog to see what else I might learn this day.
