When I was growing up livestock auctions were the social event of the week. What friends you didn't see at church on Sunday, you were guaranteed to see at the auction. Sadly they are now almost gone, giving way to "on-line auctions" which aren't even close to the excitement, sounds, and smells of a live auction. I would rather go to a livestock auction then do just about anything else.
