This photo, marked "winterquarters" I am assuming is in Sarasota. Can anybody verify? It is sure a cheesy and dicey exhibit regardless.

A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade,
I think this the baby-elephant barn at Ringling, this must be around the time when they took 50 elephants on tour with them.
This is the baby elephant barn built at Sarasota during 1954. I saw it there in March 1955 when they had just finished painting it. Some the punks had white paint on their rears from rubbing against the back wall which was not dry enough.
During 1955 it was enhanced with all the decorations shown here so that it looked as shown when folks visited in early 1956.
That is correct. Buckles has posted some of the photos from the same time period before.
