For Riz, the Turban Cowboy

When I decided to train the first ever tiger corbette over two standing tigers in 2005, I agonized over what to call it, and how to begin. It had never been done before. There were no tapes to look at or anyone to discuss it with. I spent many a late night dining with Dianne Olds Rossi discussing my dilemma. I told her I didn't want to call it a "corbette" unless I could make it happen exactly as the old riding master's had described what a corbette should be. If you do not pull of anything EXACTLY as the riding master's describe it, you have done they and their works a great injustice. My greatest obstacle was I could not touch the animal, and I could not use lunge lines, pillars, or assistants. I had to call the animal to me, instead of pushing it from behind. I started with horse cavelleti's and later built a miniature version of a horse jump, with an adjustable bar that would "knock off" on contact. Animals are trained all the same Riz, how well depend's on the person doing the training. Please refer to me as an Animal Trainer, not the "cat guy," and I won't refer to you as the "donkey guy." You'll understand I hope, if I am not unduly impressed with a donkey doing a Spanish Walk.

The uneducated public is impressed with the height of the front legs. True Horseman know that the Spanish Walk has little to do with how high the front leg goes... What matters is that the walk remains pure.
Hence the name the Spanish WALK.

Not the spanish Pause, or the Spanish Stomp or the Spanish paw...not having to touch with a whip for every step.


I trained this Donkey with Imagine A Horse methods. Now schooling Spanish Walk at Liberty and attempting Piaffe. Should be interesting to see if I can get it done:)

I dont know what your beef is with Allen, but I would guess if I locked you two in a room you would get along just fine.

In either case. If someone like me who is just a backyard horse lover can do this with his methods I would say the system has some merit.

Like I said. Three things people will never agree on. Religion, Politics and Horse Training.

I don't have a beef with Allen. I just think what he is spewing is nonsense, of no value at all. Why don't you and Allen ask John Milton what his beef is. The thought it was nonsense also. You both keep asking me and avoiding him. I can't explain it any better. Allen sent me a link and tapes which was appreciated. I critiqued it as we do on this particular blog and comments are invited. Was he looking for validation by sending it? He should have said so. We are not the "backyard group" on this blog, with exceptions. Most of us don't impress as readily as the unsuspecting, ill informed public. I don't know if locking in a room is a good thing. I don't think we would have much in common, and surly nothing like training philosophies to debate.

Then there is the factual side of the story, Taz. Sorry, Riz. Two months ago Allen's good mate Taba(he of buttons popping of his chest fame) sent a couple of horse's to Ian Garden to have hind leg walks put on them. They were delivered two weeks ago. Why in the world didn't Taba buy one of the "sacred" hind leg dvd's or at the very least contacted Allen for advice on how to do it. Surly Allen would have gifted his mate with an autographed copy if he had requested(at the very least use of a cleat board.) Why in the world spend the money to have them sent out, when all that knowledge, I assume is a phone call away. You don't suppose it had anything to do with what he thought of the methods, do you?
