Joseph Garner--Circo Atayde(Aguilar)

Standing in the background is Aguilar's fabulous ringmaster and my good friend Hector. Yesterday he, I, and George the sea lion trainer went to see the Atayde Ice Show playing in a neighboring city. After driving for an hour, we passed their tent on the right side of the road, and I asked Hector, "what's going on" to which he replied, "I am taking you to a special place to eat first." After driving another hour and a half we drive through a dusty little town and Hector pulls to the side of the road and stops. I'm wondering what's up as we are sitting there looking at a vast empty area when Hector mournfully says, "oh, it gone. The best taco's in the world used to be here." I looked at him incredulously and said, "Are you shitting me? We live in Mexico, and you just drove 2 1/2 hours to get a taco???? Why didn't you tell me you wanted a taco before we left? There are 8 joint's in front of my hotel alone!!!!" George is rolling on the floor in the back seat, as poor Hector is trying to explain that these were special barbacoa taco's available only in this area, and he wanted me to experience them. I wouldn't let him off the hook explaining that in the United State's if you want a Big Mac, you don't have to make a day trip out of it. There is a McDonalds on every corner, like taco joints in Mexico. Hector knew our mutual friend Tommy Baker and refers to himself as "the Mexican Tommy Baker." No disrespect to Tommy, but I keep trying to convince Hector he may go a lot farther if he refers to himself as the "Mexican Harold Ronk." Great chap's Hector and George. We have a lot of laughs.

One of many incredible "production numbers" superbly crafted by Gloria and the Aguilar Dancer's leading up to the introduction of the camels and horse's. The lost of live bands has been compensated with incredible sound systems, but nothing, and I mean nothing will ever compensate for a dance team of beautiful show girls. A major "missing link" in circus's today.

getting ready for the first lead change. The act was trained with a great every other animal ring curb walk, but after arrival in Mexico and the building of a new ring stage with sloped "cossack" type wall's it had to be dropped from the act.
