Thanks to Ben Rossi for sharing these video clips of his brother, the Great Rex Rossi. Awesome and the copetitive roping in the Garden with Jr. Eskew are priceless. Rex was a very good friend for many years. He vwas wintering up in Bradenton and would frequently come roaring into my yard on his "Harley" He was a nervous Nellie and after 30 to n40 minutes he had to leave. I was on Hoxie early one spring and Rex flew his plane over to Okeechobee and landed on the lot, caught our matinee and took off in a rainstorm. Last time I saw him in Memphis at Mid-south fair with Tommy Steiner Rodeo. He rode in and in spotlights was fabulous. I cried, I was so overwhelmed. He was wonderful. That is where I met Dianne. He was an all time great and was not modest, but that was Rex. Whatever he said he could do, he did it. He and brother Mark were favorites with Tom Mix on his circus as young cowboys. Rex never forgot his circus heritage and his father was famous circus band leader, Joe Rossi and in fact his christened name was Joseph Rossi. His brother Mark was killed icombat in Europe. I am proud to have been his friend.I was frustrated in missing seeing him when he was at Arabian Nights. He separated the men from the boys. Sincerely John Herriott n

Johnny, thanks for the very kind and very accurate words for Rex. This could have been said easily at his service. He was an icon and so much the devil dare. He would tell you of all his unreal escapades and you might roll your eyes but then sooner or later someone would come up and verify them. Having to learn to roll with Rex's very own time frames, very early arrival, short stays was at times exasperating but never dull.

Although we were married late in his life he was the same, I got a pilot's license because he wanted another plane. He was a free soul. He was trick roping, jumping off a running horse hat in hand at 74. He was doing stunts swimming horses across rivers because the younger guys could not do it. He was amazing, maddening, kind, generous but in the end he still had to be a free spirit and he was until the end. I was happy to be along for the ride, it was a big exciting world and he used it all.
