Hi, I do know more about Ruetta Saarosy. She was born 15 Dec 1904 in Bon Homme County, South Dakota. Her parents were Louis/Lewis Saarosy and Ruth Fisher. Ruetta had 2 younger sisters, Irene Louise, and Ruth Mary. Ruetta's paternal grandparents were Christian Von Saarosy and Maria Polacek.
In the 1920's Ruetta also entered marathon dancing contests in the midwest. She lived in Sioux City, Iowa, married twice that I know of (On March 21, 1925 to Thomas M Belfrage, and later to a Mr. Colton. She sied in San Francisco on Nov 18, 1984.
She is distanntly related to my husband's family thru Maria Polacek's family.
Some one has a "Saarosy photo album" on Flicker with several pictures of this family.

Thank you for the information. I, coming from North Dakota, am interested to find out she was born in South Dakota. Do you know how long she was in the circus, and when and why she got involved with it?

I don't know how long she was with the circus. I just found this out recently and am still researching. Ruetta and her mother were in California by the mid 1930's so I am assuming it was only for a few years at most. Her sisters eventually move to California too -- San Francisco area. Her father and his 2nd wife stayed in Sioux City, Iowa.
