On another blog I have been told that sunken temples are not necessarily an indication of age.
Have you ever seen a young [or youngish] elephant with sunken temples?
The only time I have seen younger elephants with sunken temples were sick and emaciated
Define "youngish" and "younger. This is a 7 year old elephant

Wade - you must have plenty of spare time to locate and post all these pics!
Thank you for them.
Steve,
No more time then anybody else, just what you do with your time. I have always been fascinated by animal conformation as all animals are not created equal. As discussed in the past, I think it is often times as important, if not more important then who is working with or training the animal. Form to function and what part's of the body are being used is what get the finished behavior done. Some can't do it if God himself is doing the training, and some will do it with ease for Mickey Mouse. Shoot I have these pictures as well as thousand's of other just for the purpose of looking at how an animal is put together, as well as my love of how it's house was built or how it looked in the past.

I agree with Steve. Thank you for posting and educating us regarding the subject.
Radar,
Again, no more then anybody else. I don't drink or party, so I do other things. Animals are my only interest, next to my son's, and I like to research and compare things to get a better understanding of them. Blanket statements like the one John Milton made long ago about "paralyzed beaks" are usually based on nothing of any valid evidence other then grinding an ax towards someone/something you don't like. I was involved in a lot of "sunken temple" nonsense a few years ago, and have quite a collection of pictures saved.
