I heard somewhere that Prezwalski's horses were suffering from some sort of reproductive problems as a result of living in captivity, and they were considering introducing them to the wild in Canada. I have also heard that they were considering introducing black rhino from Zimbabwe to the wild in Australia. I was surprised recently to see herds of musk ox on Sarah Palin's (if I'm spelling it right) Alaska, and also on Wild Russia, on the National Geographic Channel. Musk ox are a Canadian animal, and must be an alien, introduced species to Alaska and Russia. I remember seeing photographs of some on a farm in Vermont. The ones which Nixon gave to China came from the San Francisco Zoo. I recently read about a wild herd of wood bison being discovered in the Northwest Terrotories, in Canada in 1960. Prior to this the wood bison was thought to be extinct except for one semi-domesticated herd. Since then they have been introduced into the wild in Russia. They had a herd of them in the Toronto Zoo. The last I heard the only zoo in the United States which had wood bison was San Diego. Sincerely Paul
