For Jim Alexander

I have had this "Jungle Cruise Elephant Conceptual Art example stored on my computer in the "Zoological blue prints and drafts" folder, and it just dawned on me today how Disney was able to keep down the over head when Animal Kingdom was built. Instead of having to hire a team of highly educated, but questionably intelligent architects, he just keep the creative team who had finished with "The Little Mermaide" work overtime to design the Disney zoo.

Since you jerked the chain:

WDI imagineers did come up with some pretty creative things for Animal Kingdom. They were kept in check by a group of zoo professionals, including the STL Zoo's Ron Goellner, that could advise WDI and say yea, nay, or maybe. Disney also had Jones and Jones (big-time zoo architects) create some exhibits.

Related, maybe true, story: When the park opened there was a boat ride around Discovery Island. It was dropped a little after a year because it was a guest "dissatisfier". Long lines for a short trip, that dispite attempts to explain the attraction, most guest assumed would be a living Jungle Cruise.
