Changing Animal Standards, or sugar coating it for the "guests".

Above is the London Zoo Sea Lion exhibit in 1982, and below is a postcard from the zoo, year unknown with the description of Sea Lions by Reginald Innes Pocock Supt. of the London Zoo from 1904 to 1923. I am amused at the quote "the best know species being the one yields the fur for seal skin jackets!!!" I bet Bridget Bardot gagged. Things have sure changed for the better. Can you imagine a Zoo Director writting a description for a tiger, and stating "as beautiful as the tigers fur is, you need to see it as a rug with a starlet with half a tit hanging out posing on it, to truly appreciate it's beauty." LOL
