A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

The bear looks like a Malayan sun bear. Small but mighty, they have a reputation as aggressive animals. Now they are endangered from habitat loss and poaching for Asian medicine.
Jim,
Good eye, Marlin. I didn't look real close, and just assumed it was a Himalayan with a rubbed of mane. You are right, I wouldn't think it would be the best choice for a bear act. Maybe RJR, if he ever get's here, can tell us who's act this was. Mark Horton, did Pallenburg ever use Malayan sun bears?
