A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Hello Wade,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
This poster is Russian. I would think it would be from somewhere around the 1930's.
The text at the top of the poster translates to "The First Russian (animal) Tamer". That is a literal translation. I would take it to mean perhaps "the greatest Russian wild animal trainer".
The bottom text is the trainers name... N. P. Gladil'schikov. The N. P. probably stands for Nikolaj Pavlovich or Nikolaj Petrovich, but I cannot be certain.
I don't know all that much about N. P. Gladil'schikov, other than having seen another poster of him which proclaims him as the "Champion Russian Lion Tamer".
Maybe one of your blog's other readers has more information.
Stay well,
Henry
