Sometimes an animal will gain fame and legendary status for various reasons. With elephants it is often their "notoriety," such as Ziggy, Black Diamond, Tusko, etc. Sometimes it is just because of "who" they were, such as Jumbo or King Tusk. In the zoo field that fame is often attained in the breeding shed or a birth, such as Colo, Tony. Some like Jambo go down in history for a particular feat. Some become famous for nothing, except who owned them. What toothless lion, who did nothing, achieved fame and legendary status because he/she was a hermaphrodite, and posted with many people in the arena?

Surprised no one's suggested Terrel Jacobs' "Sheba". I've seen photos of the cat in a casket like she/he was a head of state or something. Now I know why she was a fan favorite.
Sheba waltzed in a backward motion on her hind legs. Very effective beacause in those days we never saw a hind leg cat other than leopards. John h.
Jim,
They know, they just didn't want to admit it. LOL It is incredulous what the fans, and often folks in the industry will hang paper for sometimes. And then scratch their heads and ponder why we have a public perception problem. "The largest cage act in the world", "only trained black jaguar act in the world", "greatest trainer to ever enter an arena" etc. etc. and all we have ever really seen is a toothless unmaned male lion named Sheba, do a limp dick sit up, and an equally limp dick roll over, and a limp dick barrel roll in an act of some 50 to 50 animals, depending on who is telling the tale. There were more pictures taken at the "state funeral" and the water trough/sardine can casket, then were taken of any of the animals actually doing something. That's what happens when you depend on your pr from internally, instead of hiring an outside firm, skilled in the art of "world class bs".

John Milton,
How have you been, friend. In regards to "waltzing in a backward motion, to use a well known expression, "show me the pictures." Are you sure it was a trained trick, or a refusal to sit up?
