Long ago I heard of Paul Lemery. The only story I heard was that felt his bears loved him and would never harm him -- and one day they harmed him fataly. My guess is he worked for John Cuneo.
I heard the story a few different times. Each person claimed to be the one who told him to be more careful.

Cuneo had sold this bear act[stage] to the young fellow that worked it for him. Shortly after that one of the bears killed him. I can't enlarge the news clipping but I understood it happened while he was muzzling them for a performance.

It should enlarge when you click it. This is a high dollar blog, you know. LOL According the the "eyewitness", the girlfriend, it sound's like Paul, she and the groom were out late on night grandstanding.
