Wade: Give you 4 STARS for the outstanding BLOG postings the past couple of days.

I spent four years (1957-1961)station at Andrews Air Force during days the other McDonald was in charge of the Elephant House and President IKE received a baby elephant for the American people and the first white tiger came to the D.C. Zoo...Myself and one of my good friends took Clyde Beatty to view the first white tiger....Clyde was appearing close by. Dr. Reid, Zoo Director set-up a luncheon for Clyde,Lucy Mann, wife of the late Dr. Mann, former D.C. Zoo Director, and my friend and I..That was a day to remember... Last July I visited the ZOO and was interested in what this new Elephant Project would bring to the table.....Wade, I read with interest comments on your BLOG...I will make a return visit next year and will check the New Elephant Project.....Thanks for sharing this wonderful info...

Dave,
My pleasure and thank you. We can make a more valid intelligent decision about something, if we know all the facts, and steer clear of partiality. Zoo's are making incredible strides in advancing captive animal husbandry.

Damn!!!! I never knew you got to break bread with Clyde Beatty, together with Dr. Reid, let alone show Mr. Beatty Mohan. That had to be a shining moment in your illustrious life. I imagine the only thing that would top that was the afternoon you spent with Dicky Kohlreiser and myself inducting Junior into the Ring of Fame.

Elephant Trails sounds like it will be a great addition to the National Zoo, and a groundbreaking new exhibit for elephants. I can't wait to see it for myself.
