Colombus Zoo--1969

Oscar would grow up to sire many the gorillas born in Columbus. I heard Jack Hanna tell the tale of opening a new gorilla exhibit. Columbus was still a pretty low budget operation but they managed to convert the old elephant building into a gorlla display with a moated yard. Every thing sounded like a great improvement except Jack wondered if Oscar would continue to be a breeding male in a new environment. The day came for the opening. They opened the door and the gorillas came out to their grassy yard and began to investigate things. All went well and they figured they would find out if Oscar would still play a breeding role in good time. As Jack and his group began to walk away they heard some familiar sounds from Oscar -- he was already back in the gorilla making business.
