A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Thank goodness for Ringling. Without the Felds bring over trainers like Houke, otherwise we'd never have had the chance to see acts like this in America (in my lifetime, anyway)
Anonymous,
Granted he is talented, but keep in mind that Sacha was given most of what he needed to produce such an act. It is much, much easier to produce, if it is a "show act." They(the show) as a rule, will do anything necessary for it's success. You will note the horse's are moving with short strides, and leaning. That is the major downside of liberty acts in America, in the buildings, with just rubber for footing, as opposed to the one below this, and others from Europe which have a specially placed dirt/shavings footing.

Have you seen this performer?

I was read an article in a newspaper Suisse where Geraldine Knie said Lorenzo was the greatest rider of that kind of riding she has ever seen. This, she say is different from the poste she rides because there is no ring to contain the horses and must be controlled with multiple reins while maintaining balance. Very skilled and dangerous she say his horses are trained to perfection.
