This
Picture was taken by a helicopter flying over Lake Weiss
About 90 miles north of Birmingham, Alabama
.....
The
Helicopter pilot and the game warden were in communication
Via radio's. Here is a transcript of their conversation.
'Air 1 have you a visual on the gator, over'
'Approaching inlet now, over'
'Roger Air 1'
'Gator sighted.. Looks like it has a small animal in its mouth..
Moving in, over'
'Roger Air 1'
'Holy Crap it's a Deer!' ('Holy crap', is I assume military code for "you are not going to believe this."
'Confirm Air 1.. Did you say Deer?, Over'
'Roger.. A Deer in its mouth.. Looks like a full sized buck.. that's
A big gator, we are going to need more men, Over'
'Roger Air 1.. Can you give me a idea on size of animal,
Over
'It's big 25 feet at least, please advise Gator is heading to
Inlet.. Do I pursue?, over'
The deer was later found to be a mature Stag and was measured at
11 feet!
This alligator was found between Centre and Leesburg , Alabama ,
Near a house ! Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator
Joe Goff, 6'5' tall, a game warden, walks past the 28 foot, 1 inch (8.5 meters) alligator

Thank you Wade and Diane, this is awesome! I wonder why they couldn't find a zoo, preserve, or somewhere else to house it, rather than kill it? Way too big, I guess.

That story is one of those urban ledgends. The gator shown hanging was 13 1/2 feet, captured in Texas
The first pics were of a gator taken in South Carolina but not captured
The transcript is an email that was made up to acompany the pictures:
