Fitzgerald Bros. Circus & Menagerie

Even today when cubs are born in the circus, their picture flashes all over the world, and the marketing machine touts them as an example of great husbandry, and proof that all is right with the world. Those were my belief's as a young man, but I am not fooling myself anymore. If they reproduced in the late 1800's in this "habitat", it seems to be a simple matter of a compatible male and female procreating. I don't think it is much proof of genius, skill, or their quality of life in 2009.

Breeding cubs is easy in the circus. Getting the parent[s] to raise them is the test of good animal husbandry [and truly content and compatible adults].

Steve,
I would say that the parent raised these cubs, and I would guess that my cat's raised 90-95% of their offspring, and Josip is probably close to that. Yet at the same facility with the same line of animals, same cages, same food, another person had 0%(13 offspring) parent raised during a 10 year period.
