Tasmanian Tiger Skin, c 1930 (Thylacinus cynocephalus)

The Thylacine pelt above sold a year ago, September 24,2008 in Sydney Australia, for $114,000.00. It's provenance dated it 1930. What do you suppose it would have been worth if it's provenance proved it was the pelt of the animal below? Note the age provenance of 1930. There have been no reliable sightings of a Tasmanian Tiger, even in Tasmania since 1936. It may not be the pelt of the one below, but it was sure darn close!!!!!



The last documented Tasmanian tiger, above in the Hobart Zoo, died September 7, 1936
