Do the seats for the hind leg sit in picture two raise for the sit in picture three? What is the purpose for them in picture two regardless?

They are two different seats. The purpose of the seats in picture two is so that the animals have a natural spacing for the sit up, normally when the behavior is just a sit up, and not a laydown/situp which takes more time concentrating on the finish, the sit up, instead of the building or leading to the finish. A lay down is pretty much a wash behavior wise.

Addendum to Radar,
Some folks refer to the "floor plates/seats, as a crutch. I don't see it as anymore of a crutch then laying them down and sitting them up at the front of the cage.

Why would it be different than rolling tigers in the middle of the cage and having them subsequently sit up from that position?

When they roll over they naturally give themselves more space. When they are brought into a lay down they tend to crowd. The sit up after the roll over, is a good way to keep them from blowing to their seats also.

I understand. What I mean is, using the floor plates to have cats sit up in the middle of the arena is an easier method (or cheating). Whereas you could gain the same result without them if the tigers rollover in the middle of the cage (with no props/gates behind) and sit up immediately following. Correct?
It would seem easier to sit cats up when they are spaced apart so they cannot grab one another, but could you not place them in the proper location spaced accordingly and not use the extra props?

Cheating?? The floor plates give you the bonus of being able to spin the cats and sit them up to the other side of the house, in addition to eliminating the need for a lay down as a "trick". You will not get the exact space between without them, unless you have a select hand picked small group of animals. It is easier to sit them up when they are spaced, yes. That is one of the purposes of the plates, in addition to eliminating the laydown, and offering the spin, and also why it is easier to roll them over, then sit them up. They naturally make more room for the roll over. If you are asking if it is easier to sit them up on plates to space them, then to roll them over to space them, the answer is no.
