"Lord Lascelles"

If readers want to see a steam engine of true beauty then look no further than Burrell Showmans Road Locomotive the "Lord Lascelles" [www.lord-lascelles.co.uk] now fully restored.

It's nearly time for the Great Dorset Steam Fair (2-6 Sept 2009 ........ www.gdsf.co.uk)

"One of the highlights of The Great Dorset Steam Fair is the old time steam Funfair. Annually, over 60 Showman's Engines with their gleaming, twisted, brass appear generating the light and power for the old roundabouts and swing-boats, and with 60 merry organs playing, it makes for a fascinating spectacle, especially at night."

Richard, do you see? Steam to animal men is as intoxicating as fly bait to a horse fly. I don't think it has as much to do with them being "animal like machines" as Clin suggested. I think it has a lot more to do with testosterone and chest thumping!!!!

These are my favorites. I bought a book a few years ago devoted totally to the road locomotive!

Joey,
You should see some of the steam thresher get togethers they have up in my home state of North Dakota. Amazing that they have managed to restore and get operating some of those wonderful old steamers.
