National Knie Circus

I saw my first circus in 15 years last night - Cole Bros. Circus. What a shabby outfit. The outside looked worn with dirty tent and faded paint on the trucks, and the inside was just as messy looking. They didn't even have a ring, just a row of boxes around the performing area, and the boxes weren't even put together straight.
For the show, I liked the high wire act and the camels were pretty good (except for the girls standing around swinging their gauze capes, and blocking the act) and the hair hang girls were entertaining. The worst things were the absolutely awful clowns, the dog act, the mule and the tragic showgirl entrances. Don't these people see any other shows? Don't they know how amateur it looks having girls who can't dance pretend to dance?
The tent was about 2/3 full, though I noticed a lot of people leaving during intermission.
I wasn't too impressed, I'll tell you that.

Andrew,
Welcome, and that is a pretty fair assessment of today's circus. Sometimes better to just close it up, then to trash it and bring it down.

This Cole ircus with the number of a nimal acts that call for a "ring curb" is hard to figure. Why in hell don't they carry a ring curb. I heard the half way ring they put up for the camel act, etc. is just awful and looks terrible, Mike Rice does them a big favor in trying to work under those conditions, especially when the Camel act gets favorable PR over otger acts in the show. Guess they are making money and don't give a shit
