John David White
02/17/1963 - 3/16/2009





John David White, age 46, of Woodstock, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born February 17, 1963 in Iowa City, Iowa to Jerry A. and Janet L. (Falls) White. On February 26, 2000 he married Lisa J. Marsh in Grand Blanc, Michigan. They have two young sons Zach 8 and Rex 4.

John graduated from City High School in 1981, and attended the University of Iowa.

John was a professional Arabian Horse Trainer. He and his wife Lisa Jo, established John White Stables in Woodstock, Illinois 19 years ago. He was very proud of his sons Zach and Rex who have enthusiastically followed in his footsteps. Both boys began competing in the show ring this past summer.

John enjoyed golfing and fishing, but mostly he enjoyed participating in these activities with his sons.

He is survived by his wife Lisa; two sons, Zach and Rex; his mother, Janet White Cramer and step-father, W.D. Cramer of Coralville, Iowa; in-laws, Pete and Jo Marsh of Grand Blanc, MI.; two sisters, Rebecca White of Omaha, NB., Kathy Susan White of Tampa, FL.; two brothers, Jeffrey White of Boston, MA., J.D. (Darla) White of Plano, TX.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry A. White in 1988; and his grandparents.

The family is especially grateful for the personalized care provided by the staff at both Northern Illinois Medical Center and the Sage Cancer Center.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, Il 60050.

Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, March 20, at the funeral home.

I first met John in 1987 when he had just moved to Illinois and was hired as the farm trainer at Don Dossell's DWD Arabian Farm, where he worked closely with the great Ginger Tata. John developed into one of the great English Trainers in the mid West, specializing in National Show Horses and Saddlebreds.
