A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Possibly the show was struggling and having a hard time coming up with heads of lettuce to keep Zusha happy in the ring?

This proved to be a BS story.
Richard,
What's BS? That he ate a dwarf,or they had a hard time finding lettuce? LOL I suggest if it had been written by a circus publicist, it would be referenced as "creative genius" and not BS.

It's a re-hash of an actual event which required the skills of Roland Butler. He rebuked the AR folks who criticized the show for allowing the hippo to become "bored". He countered with "where is the compassion for the person that fell?".
That resolved the issue of bored hippos.
