A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Cirque du Soleil - on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra, Australia.
Australia's Parliament House is in the background.
Your fishing is getting good results today mate!!!
Wade, you traveled far more widely than I ever did and I have not got a clue as to where this might be. What is the wierd stuff at the bottom of the photo? Being as computer illeterate as I am and even enlarging the photo, I'm not sure if the photo is real. If it is, it is a beautiful set up and I hope the show lives up to the setting.
A couple of off topic questions. Is Adam going to be on the Hanneford date in St. Charles next month? If so, I'll finally get to see him work - hopefully without "Song of India" and that much hated bridge. That thing never matched your style and class nor any other Cuneo act I vaguely remember seeing.
Although I'm sure you really cannot comment, with the whole various "animal protection agencies" vs. Feld Entertainment thing coming up before a court this week, are the real experts like you, Buckles, Col. H. and the like going to be involved? Or is Kenneth going to go this on his own without the support of people who know the truth and are willing to say so?
Warren
Could that be Soleil's Corteo?
Looks like Cirque du Soleil.
Vincent
Steve,
In this case it is chumming.
Wade
No disrespect intended for Wade, Herriot,or Buckles. But for something like this I would like to think Feld INC would hire some PHD carrying biologists, zoologists, and animal behaviorists with scientifically proven facts that leaned in Felds favor. Not that the "experts" Warren mentioned are not knowledgeable in animal training, but they may not be qualified in a court of law to practice animal training. Not any of them would, but screaming out to the judge, "what about the zoos, rodeos, bull fighting, or the "horsey set" would probably be a KO for the AR radicals in the first round,,,LOL
Warren,
I think Adam does dates for Jody Jordan at the beginning of the year, and is with Hannaford later in the season.
For practicality the pyramid was the way to go. Most folks who had a problem with it, never learned how to "get around it", personally didn't like Hawthorn, or it became fashionable to object to it. It you have to do a pyramid,(I personally don't know why you would) it was the best way to go. The hardest thing imaginable was training by a "script". I one time had a hind leg tiger that was white, and I had to train a new one as the act it was going to, the one being replaced was gold.
In the case of testifying at the trial, the folks you mentioned would be of no use. "With it and for it" would be the motive, which doesn't have much to do with facts, and jackpots aren't of much use in a trial. LOL
Wade
Warren - that weird stuff at the bottom of the photo is called water. You can see the shadow of the helicopter that took the pic.
Wade - in that case I hope that "chum" has a different meaning than what it has in Oz!!!
Steve,
Damn. Maybe those birds don't flock that close. I was thinking more along the lines of shark fishing, alligator catching chumming!!!! LOL Maybe just eating a sandwich, so that it isn't necessary to "toss a salad."
Wade
Steve, I was not refering to the water. I was refering to the posssibly paved area - the triangle shape leading to the arced ares which is seemingly adorned with complex decorations. Are these mosaics based on aboriginal art or such?
The location is spectacular. Just another reason to keep saving to visit Australia one day.
Warren
Mosaics based on the whim of a highly paid [expert] consultant more likely!!
You'd enjoy Australia Warren. I'll introduce you to my son and you can talk rigging for hours!!!
