A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Does anywone have a a time reference for this photo?
Of course Flavio Togni had a black leopard ride his white rhino when here with RBBB in 1990.
When they started out the 2nd year the pad on the rhino's back did not fit correctly because he was growing so fast. When the black leopard sprung onto the pad, it swung around under the belly of the rhino.
That spooked the rhino and he smashed head furst into the surrounding mesh arena as though to get out.
End of leopard on rhino. This happened in Miami.
RJR.
So what are your saying? The safe bet is to do it without a saddle or an arena, as in this photo?
I keep waiting for Raffaele to comment on this and a couple of other Italian pictures. He must be busy.
Wade
All I can say with regard to time scale is that I saw Davio work this act in Holland in 1996, and that was definitely the first season in which he presented it.
