The old Elephant exhibit at the Taronga Zoo.

Old Elephant building above before it was rehabbed for Wild Asia.
Above is their bull Heman who was moved to Dubbo Zoo. Good looking bull with a massive neck. Does anyone know how old he is, and how he lost his left tusk?

the tusk?

Rebecca,
"Tusk" The long white thing that sticks out the front of a male elephants face. Ferrel pigs have a curved one(as do Muntjac deer and others), and hippo teeth are also referred to as "tusks", but in this case we are talking about elephant tusks.

Wade,
OK OK OK ! It says what is a foot?
I will use more nouns and verbs.
Do you know where the other tusk is? I know you sometimes know the answer.

Rebecca,
When I said, "does anybody know how old he is, or what happened to his left tusk", that meant I didn't know how old he was, and was hoping somebody could tell me, and it also meant I didn't know what happened to his tusk(the long white chalky thing), and was hoping someone could tell me.

Mary Ann,
Where is a trick question, and only comments with nasty words, I would want the world to think there are ladies on this blog, and not fish monger's wives.

Wade, Joe is not a fish monger, he is a financial systems analyst.

(with photo where he has two tusks...)

As you see he was 50 years by his death in 2006-12-28

and on this link: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200612/s1818875.htm is to read:

Australasia's oldest male asian elephant has died at a zoo in central-western New South Wales.

The one-tusked elephant affectionately known as Heman was found dead by his keepers at Dubbo's Western Plains Zoo this morning.

Heman moved from Sydney's Taronga Zoo in 2005 to a custom built elephant exhibit at the Western Plains Zoo with his long term partner, Burma.

Believed to be just over 50, Heman came to Australia from Singapore in the 1960s.

Western Plains Zoo manager of life sciences Maria Finnegan says he was loved by generations of Australians and will be sadly missed.

"He was just such a gentle demeanoured bull. He was a really lovely bull to work around.

"The elephant staff knew him very well and are just saddened. Those really close to him are really saddened by what's happened."

The female Burma mentioned above is the animals who came from Bullens circus to Taronga in 1982.

Mary Ann,
I did not say he was a fish monger, I was told by a women that women who use that language were fish mongers wives.

Wade, again all I said was "ass", and you let Casey get away with it. I think that you did not like the message. And accusing me of worse than I said is defamation of character.

Mary Ann,
Look God Dammit, I can sensor you all night, if I want, but as you asked, show me where Casey said that on that thread. I believe it was you that said it and I let it pass once. Second time I cut it, as I cut Rebeccas comment for content. Now what were you saying about defamation of character. There is very little I am afraid of or worried about.

Dan,
Thank you. Do you know who it was got in trouble just a few years ago over in Europe, for supplying illegal dolphins to marine parks?

Heman lost his left tusk while still at Taronga. I am told that he fell into the dry moat surrounding the exhibit, the tusk snapped off, the root became infected and finally had to be surgically removed.
